Set Permissions
1. Login in with Administrator access 2. Double click "WWHM4 Files" (desktop icon) 3. Right click C:\ProgramData\WWHM4 4. Select Properties 5. Select Security tab 6. Click Edit to change permissions 7. Select 'Users' Group 8. Check 'Full control' 9. Click 'Ok' twice 10. All users should now be able to use WWHM4
If you are not installing WWHM4 then substitute BAHM, SDHM, etc for WWHM4.
WWHM3 File Types: What are they?
There are 3 project file types that are
produced by the WWHM3: .WHM, .WDM, and .WH2. The WHM
and WH2 files contain your project information, and the WDM file contains the
time series data produced or used by your project.
When you save a project, you are saving 3
files:
Project.WHM
This is the binary project file which contains all
of the information about your project except the time series data (flow,
evaporation, precipitation, stage data contained in the WDM file). It
loads very quickly and its size can vary depending on the size and complexity of
your project. A medium sized project WHM file can be 12 megabytes
or more.
Project.WH2
This is functionally identical to the WHM file
except that it is much smaller and takes longer to load. It is a text file
with the project information which must be parsed and translated into binary
information. A 12 megabyte WHM project file can be loaded as a WH2
file of less than 300 k. However this might take several
minutes to load.
The vastly smaller size of the WH2 file
makes it the ideal choice when emailing a project to someone. It
takes longer to load, but once it is loaded, the user can save the project,
automatically producing a WHM which is then loaded very quickly --so the
long loading time only needs to happen once.
Another advantage of the WH2 file is forward
compatibility with respect to WWHM releases. Sometimes when the WWHM core
code is updated, previously saved WHM files become incompatible with the
latest version of the software. The WH2 file bridges this gap and assures
forward compatibility.
If the WWHM3 detects an incompatible WHM
file, it will find the WH2 file and load it instead. Once loaded
it will then be saved in the latest format. This process happens behind
the scenes and the end user shouldn't even notice it's happening. You can be
sure that your saved project will still load in future releases of the
WWHM3.
Project.WDM
This is the Watershed Database Management file
containing all of the data, including precipitation, evaporation, stage, and
flow time series (in some cases irrigation, water quality and other
kinds of time series are stored in there as well).
If the WWHM3 loads a project and can't find the WDM
file that goes with it, it will prompt the user and create a new WDM with
the proper precipitation and evaporation data for the project. All flow or
stage data produced by the project will have to be produced again by re-running
the project.
Normal saving and loading of a project is done
locally with the WHM file format. When sending projects via the internet,
the WH2 file can be send by itself and the project will be re-constructed
automatically on the other end. Most of the time, the user never
has to worry about anything but saving and loading the WHM file.
WWHM3 takes care of the rest.
